Adventist Lawyers Unite in Bangkok for Landmark Convention

Bangkok, Thailand – September 18 - 20, 2023–  Adventist lawyers from the Philippines and Indonesia came together for the first time in Bangkok from September 18 to 20, marking a pivotal moment in their professional journey at the Adventist Lawyers and Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Convention. Themed “Called to be Faithful,” the event focused on identifying key areas for professional growth and enhancing their roles in support of the church's mission.

The convention featured a lineup of esteemed speakers, including Dr. Ian Felicitas, SSD Field Secretary; Ma’am Sweetie Ritchil, SSD Associate Treasurer; Pastor Paulo Nelson, the outgoing SSD PARL Director; and Pr. The event featured a diverse range of activities, including group dynamics, personal testimonies, and devotional messages. One testimony presented by a lawyer illustrated God's provision during challenging times, emphasizing a noteworthy increase in tithe receipts despite the obstacles posed by the pandemic. Additionally, a judge shared his journey from aspiring priesthood to a successful career in the judiciary, demonstrating the various pathways of faith and professional vocation.

The group dynamics sessions facilitated collaboration among participants on topics related to the “Back to the Altar” paradigm. During the commitment program, Pastor Simba expressed gratitude to the lawyers for their active engagement, highlighting the significance of love in every transaction to authentically illuminate their respective paths. He also acknowledged Pastor Nelson for his valuable contributions, particularly in the area of evangelism.
