Day 6 Highlights of the Multiple Intelligence Camp

Dr. Alevir Pido, the Education Director of the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference, served as the speaker for the Divine Worship during the week-long Mindanao-Wide Multiple Intelligence Camp culminating on February 17, 2023.

After the Sabbath School Program, which showcased a range of musical performances and student-presented stories, the Divine Worship took place. Dr. Pido, as the speaker, extended heartfelt thanks to all contributors to the success of the MIC, giving special recognition to those who made significant sacrifices in their roles as camp heads and facilitators.

In her message, she emphasized that excellence transcends mere trophies, medals, applause, or fame. True excellence is a reflection of one's character and the refusal to settle for anything less, not accepting the bare minimum. Quoting the Bible, she reminded the audience that whatever they do, whether eating, drinking, or engaging in any activity, it should be done for the glory of God. Thus, she encouraged everyone to give their best in all their endeavors.

"At the heart of MIC is actually a Bible Camp. That's why we spent a lot in plenary sessions learning about God, His love and studying the Bible."

She further emphasized that children possess the power to make a difference and that they are truly worth it. Despite their youth, they have the ability to proclaim, "I learn, I grow, I shine for Jesus" as they are designed in the image of God.

Awarding Ceremony & Commitment Service

The MIC concluded with the Awarding Ceremony and Commitment Service on Sabbath afternoon. The camp heads gathered on the Alumni Church stage to deliver brief speeches, sharing their experiences and insights in their roles. All of them expressed joy in announcing the success of the children, the latter's achievements in their activities and their God-given talents.

Following the speeches, students were presented with certificates of participation and medals as a recognition of completing the MIC. Also, plaques of appreciation were presented to institutional partners, including missions and conferences within Mindanao, as a gesture of gratitude for their support and collaboration.

Pastor Roxie Joy Pido, the Communications Director of the SWPUC, served as the speaker for the Commitment Service. In his message, he addressed the distinction between intelligence and intellect. He emphasized that people are a part of God's design, with design reflecting intelligence rather than intellect, as the latter cannot create design. He also stressed the idea that human knowledge is minimal compared to God's intelligence, also citing Psalm 139:14, which appreciates the creation of human beings as "fearfully and wonderfully made". He concluded by stating, "The intellect can only dissect, but intelligence can provide eternal joy and peace."

Andy Jeurel R. Siso from the Digital Arts Camp, shared his thoughts on the MIC: "I learn to make friends, to be confident, and share love to others. I chose Digital Arts because I want to try something new. My experience here is fun and educational."

He also commented on the devotional messages he heard. "I learn that no matter what, God will always be there for us. And with Him, we can do anything."

Alvin Book from the Research Camp said that, "I learn to make friends and teamwork, especially that our activities were to gather data and construct questionnaires."

He was grateful for receiving the certificate, recalling the times when he did their assignments with other students in the Research Camp and also that the devotional messages taught him to worship and praise God.

The MIC concluded officially after the Commitment Service, during which students, along with their parents and teachers and camp heads and facilitators, bid farewell to the enlightening experiences they had throughout the entire eventful week.
