Harvest of Faith: Thousands Baptized as SwPUC Advances with Historic "My Journey with God" Series
Finding clear biblical answers often requires an open heart and an intentional, supportive community. For a long time, Sheila wrestled with deep questions about her faith, particularly wondering why most people worship on Sunday instead of Saturday, and why baptism is often performed by sprinkling rather than immersion. However, by faithfully tuning in to the nightly broadcasts of My Journey with God, she found profound clarity and the confidence to fully surrender her life to Christ. Her beautiful testimony was just one of the thousands of transformed lives celebrated during the spectacular culmination of the My Journey with God series.
Following the official launch of the global One Voice 27 initiative on September 6, SwPUC immediately built upon its phenomenal momentum by sustaining its digital evangelism through the launch of My Journey with God Season 8, which ran from September 6 to 26, 2026. Anchored on the hopeful theme, “God’s Amazing Plan for You!”, this 21-night series brought together the region's church leadership not to elevate themselves, but to lift up the name of Jesus. Serving as humble vessels for the Gospel, mission and conference presidents—Pastors Cirilo S. Baal, Rolly Jun C. Ursonal, Klenjey S. Sajulga, Porferio E. Lagunday Jr., and Abundionito P. Cayme—delivered the nightly broadcasts. The campaign then culminated with faith-filled messages from SwPUC Executive Secretary Pastor Max Dante B. Obbus and President Pastor Jerry C. Patalinghug. Through 21 carefully curated topics ranging from the origins of suffering to deep prophetic revelations, these messages continually pointed viewers back to the cross, successfully guiding seekers toward biblical truth and ensuring that Christ's wave of evangelism across Mindanao continues to flourish.
Broadcast live from the SPUC Garden Church in Cagayan de Oro City, the event marked the victorious end of the 21-night evangelistic series across the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SwPUC). Despite heavy rains sweeping across much of Mindanao—a downpour the hosts joyfully viewed as a physical pouring of God's blessings—the true driving force behind this massive spiritual harvest was the grassroots effort of local care groups. Rather than relying on traditional mass gatherings, church members actively opened their homes, shared meals, and built genuine relationships with their neighbors. This intimate connection and warm hospitality proved the most effective form of evangelism throughout the campaign.
The series also reached far beyond traditional church walls and living rooms. In one powerful instance, police officers streamed the program on their laptops while on duty, allowing inmates in the detention cells to watch and listen to the messages of hope every single night. Highlighting the creativity and passion of the local care groups, another neighborhood without a proper venue ingeniously transformed a local videoke spot into a dedicated viewing space, perfectly illustrating how the church met people exactly where they were. Even healthcare workers, such as a group of nurses facing exhausting shifting schedules, made incredible sacrifices to study the Bible and participate in the series, leading to deeply emotional baptism moments.
The church witnessed a remarkable influx of new believers, with live Zoom check-ins reporting 2,800 baptisms as of September 27. The number continues to rise as additional reports from other missions and conferences are received.
This spiritual harvest was more than an organization-wide program. It was a united effort by the entire church family. SwPUC administrators, including President Pastor Jerry Patalinghug, Executive Secretary Pastor Max Dante Obbus, and Treasurer Sir Bing Sanes, worked alongside district pastors, institutional partners, and church members to share the Gospel. Special thanks were also given to the Hope Channel South Philippines crew. Despite long hours and demanding work, they managed the live broadcasts while maintaining regular network programs, helping the message of hope reach every screen.
Beyond the celebration of this massive harvest, the church is now called to a crucial season of intentional nurturing. SwPUC leaders, including Field Secretary Pastor Ramon Morente and Executive Secretary Pastor Max Dante Obbus, emphasized that the spiritual journey does not end at baptism. As these thousands of new members step out in faith, care groups are now challenged to closely mentor them, integrate them into the church family, and help them develop daily devotional habits so that the seeds planted during this series will continue to grow and flourish.
