Prominent Figures in Health and Lifestyle Education Deliver Impactful Seminar on Lifestyle Medicine

Health and lifestyle education took center stage as Lydia T. Bautista and Dr. Cherie Lou Nermal-Fernandez, renowned experts in their respective fields, delivered an insightful one-week lecture on Lifestyle Medicine. The seminar, titled "The Foundation of True Health Care," was held simultaneously at the South Philippine Union Conference and North Central Mindanao Conference from November 20 to 25, 2023, drawing enthusiastic participation from a diverse group of attendees.

Lydia T. Bautista, RN, DipACLM, DNP, the Founder and Director of the Health and Lifestyle Education Center, is also the author of "RESTFUL Health and Lifestyle Education" and holds a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and ECornell University. Dr. Cherie Lou Nermal-Fernandez, a distinguished Fellow of the Philippine Obgyne Society and actively working towards Diplomate status with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, has contributed articles to leading health journals and presented on Women’s Disease at 3ABN. She currently serves as a health evangelist for the Living Water Oidale SDA Church.

The two lecturers alternated their schedules during the week, presenting in the morning and afternoon sessions at the respective venues, culminating at the South Philippine Union Conference on November 25. The seminar attracted participation from SPUC Department Directors, office staff, Mission/Conference Health Ministries Directors, and friends, reflecting the diverse and influential audience it drew.

The event was organized by the SPUC administration and its Health Ministries Department, under the leadership of Dr. Rey Dela Cruz. Dr. Rey emphasized the significant role of the seminar in promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle, underlining the holistic approach to health and well-being championed by the seminar. The holistic message was brought to life through the personal testimonies and the engaging Q&A session on the closing day, providing an opportunity for attendees to interact with the esteemed lecturers.

A noteworthy aspect of the seminar was the 21-day challenge, where participants committed to adopting suggested lifestyle interventions. The gesture resonated deeply with attendees, who expressed their appreciation for the scientifically and biblically sound presentations. The seminar left a lasting impact, inspiring attendees to consider practical changes in their lifestyle for improved health and well-being.
