Thousands of Youth Unite for Regional Friendship Camps 2026, Fostering Lasting Connections.
True connection in the digital age often requires stepping away from screens and stepping into nature. Throughout May 2026, thousands of young people across the region did exactly that, gathering for the massive, multi-mission Friendship Camp (FCamp) 2026. Operating under the unified theme "Connect," the regional camps aimed to forge unbreakable bonds among the youth—both with their peers and with their Creator.
The sheer scale of the mobilization was historic. The North Central Mindanao Conference (NCMC) hosted nearly 3,000 campers in El Salvador City from May 17 to 24, while the Zamboanga Peninsula Mission (ZPM) gathered an additional 1,800 youth. Similar massive turnouts were recorded in the Western Mindanao Conference (WMC) with almost 3,000 attendees, and across 12 diverse operational sites in the Northeastern Mindanao Mission (NEMM).
The camps were intentionally designed to push participants out of their comfort zones. Through base stations, obstacle courses, and team-building exercises, campers learned that true camaraderie is built through compromise and shared effort.
In ZPM, camper Glendy Lou Preciado highlighted the difficulty of the "camp cookery" activity, noting that such tasks require intense unity to execute successfully under pressure. This sentiment was echoed by fellow camper Selvester Limetares, who shared the realities of working with diverse personalities: "Even if we had misunderstandings, it turned out well because we compromised to reach an agreement. Even if it's tiring, as long as it's for the experience, we are still very happy."
The challenges extended to the camp leadership as well. Kurt Hortilano, a ZPM counselor, spoke candidly about the effort required to guide his all-boys unit, ensuring they stayed engaged, present, and enthusiastic despite their initial mischievousness. These shared hurdles transformed strangers into tightly-knit communities.
Beyond physical activities, the core of FCamp 2026 was spiritual restoration and active evangelism. The theme "Connect" explicitly targeted building relationships with both Adventist and non-Adventist friends.
This outward-focused evangelism yielded unprecedented results. In NEMM, youth directors successfully benchmarked new outreach strategies across their 12 sites. The Siargao site alone hosted 250 campers, with a staggering 170 being non-Adventists. The spiritual impact of this inclusive environment culminated in mass baptisms across the region, demonstrating the profound reach of the youth ministry:
NEMM: 681 baptisms (partial count)
NCMC: 146 baptisms (partial count)
ZPM: 111 baptisms (partial count)
WMC: 100 baptisms (partial count)
Pastor Reniel D. Lagata, NCMC Youth Director, reflected on the ultimate goal of the gathering: “We joined the activities here so we have lessons to bring back to our homes... There is no other blessing we can attain but the spiritual one above all.”
As the week-long events concluded with cheers and fireworks, leadership emphasized that the camp's end was just the beginning of the youth's mission. Pastor Junifer Colegado expressed profound gratitude to the camp directors and facilitators whose tireless work made the massive coordination and life-changing experiences possible.
Challenging the youth to carry the fire forward, Pr. Chlue C. Tangente, ZPM Youth Director, offered a powerful closing charge:
"Often we hear the saying, 'What happens here, stays here.' But I hope that won't happen to our campers. I hope that whatever they heard, whatever they saw, and whatever they experienced here, they will share it with others."
FCamp 2026 proved to be more than just a summer retreat; it was a spiritual catalyst, proving that the region's youth are fully equipped, united, and ready to answer the call to serve a living God.
