Hope Channel Representatives Convene for MIZPAH Second-Anniversary Celebration and Media Workshops
Representatives from Hope Channel stations within the SPUC gathered at the SPUC Guesthouse Hall from October 12 to 13, 2023, to celebrate the second anniversary of MIZPAH, the official newswire service of Hope Channel South Philippines. The two-day event featured workshops and engaging discussions on news production and its current trends, news writing tailored for Adventist readers and audiences, and ethical issues in delivering news. Esteemed lecturers included Pr. Heshbon Buscato, SSD Communications Director; Edward Rodriguez, the Senior Writer of SSD Communications and Media; Poch Sarballon and Sozina Sarballon, GMA news producers; Pr. Roxie Pido, SPUC Communications Director; and Pr. Cart Aguillon, ZPM Communications Director.
After a series of lectures and workshops on the first day, an evening gala with the theme, "Honoring Excellence in News Production," took place at the Ultra Winds Mountain Resort. This event was graced by notable Hope Channel South Philippines supporters, including Mr. and Mrs. Rex Gonzaga, who presented prizes to the contest winners. The atmosphere was festive, with media crews from all missions and conferences showcasing their talents and presenting video representations highlighting soul-winning testimonies through media ministry. Attendees also received tokens before the event concluded.
On the second day, the lectures continued, covering topics such as the identity, logo, and brand of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the art of storytelling, and ethical issues faced by writers covering stories for the church. During the Commitment Service, Pr. Buscato encouraged the attendees to "strive for excellence and do their best for the Master."
For the past two years, MIZPAH has consistently provided relevant news to the Adventist community within the SPUC, highlighting the progress of God's work in the region and serving as a source of inspiration for the community to become more actively involved in His important mission.
