Hundreds of Youth Leaders Attended the NCMC’s Youth Convention

Adventist Youth Leaders and Secretaries from nearly 400 local churches of 27 Districts in the North Central Mindanao Conference territory gathered for a two-day seminar on Youth Leadership Training vis-a-vis Introduction To Media Evangelism.

The two days convention intends to prepare and equip the youth with innovative and adaptive approaches relevant to the current generation’s needs. Along with the topics given, the Youth Department, headed by Pr Eugene Dela Pena, spearheaded the election of the Adventist Youth Ministries Executive Committee who will work with him in the different activities under the program, ”For The Youth, By The Youth.”

May be an image of 1 person and indoorThe Youth Department partners with the Communication Department and the Hope Channel South Philippines in addressing the challenge of involving the youth in media ministry.

The Convention opened with a powerful message by Pr Cris Vacalares, NCMC President, on Friday night. It was then followed by the election of the Organizing Committee chosen from the different clusters of the North Central Mindanao Conference.

The Sabbath morning has become a delectable dish for the participants as the Hope Channel South Philippines Manager, Mr. Johnster Joe Calibod, opened the discussion for the Introduction of Digital Evangelism which was then followed by another relevant topic on Media and Radio Evangelism by Pr Ebenezer Perez, NCMC Communication Director.

May be an image of 1 person, standing and indoorDuring the Hour of Worship, Pr Eugene Dela Pena mightily delivered the lessons about his life and ignited the youth to get involved in the ministry wherever they are no matter what the circumstances will be. He ended his message with a resounding plea, asking the young people in attendance to “Be The Sermon” wherever they go.

May be an image of 5 people, people standing and indoorThe Introduction to Media Workshop started in the afternoon while the organizing committee was at the same time, gathered in a room to choose for the Nominating Committee.

May be an image of 1 person and standingThe workshop was opened by a remarkable message from the Executive Secretary of North Central Mindanao Conference, Pr Ramon Morente. The lecture on “ Youth and Media” was then delivered by Mrs. Charm Senining. She magnified how branding can magnify the mission of the church placed on social media platforms. The SPUC Youth Director, Pr. Jemsly Lantaya, talked about the Philosophy and Theology of Youth Ministry linked to Media Evangelism. He pointed out that all activities and ministries done should be centered on Jesus.

The second set of speakers is the youth who are media enthusiasts. Ylya Pido shared technical techniques on Video Production and Joan Briones on generating ideas for video production.

The final program of the convention was a challenge given by Pr Jemsly Lantaya, the South Philippine Union Conference Youth Director, during the Commitment Service.

The convention concluded with the reading of the new set of AYM Execom Officers who will work with Pr. Eugene Dela Pena during his term as Youth Director.
