It was a spiritually historic and yet fun week for the elementary schools, academies, colleges, and hospitals of SwPUC as they celebrated the Gift of Prophecy and SDA History. Focusing on the theme “Seeing the Past, Present, and Future Through the Spirit of Prophecy Lens”, various activities were conducted that reinforced trust in the testimonies of Ellen G. White as well as reminisced about the sacrifices and contributions of the pioneers to the Advent movement.

Daily devotional meetings were held in schools and hospitals. At the same time, the Spirit of Prophecy Directors of SWPUC and the missions/conferences presented a nightly series on the SOP & SDA History on Hope Channel South Philippines. Moreover, students and hospital workers participated in the quiz bee, storytelling, poem-writing, song composition, and sermon-making & delivery, while some institutions included orations, poster design, and film-making.

Cash prizes, including Ellen White’s Messages To Young People, stickers, and other tokens, were given to the top-3 winners of the different activities. The celebration culminated in a convocation with the awarding and presentation of the winning entries in each category. The observance continued through the Sabbath School, Hour of Worship, and Adventist Youth Programs on October 18, with the messages and musical parts highlighting the theme of the weeklong event. As many have mentioned, beyond discovering various creative talents in different areas, such a union-wide program elicited spiritual realizations, appreciation for the Adventist pioneers, and thankfulness for God’s wonderful leadings for His people.
