SWPUC Education Department Conducts Curriculum Planning and Textbook Evaluation for SSHS
The Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SwPUC) Education Department conducted a Strengthened Senior High School (SSHS) Curriculum Planning and Development and Textbook Evaluation on April 23, 2026, at the SwPUC Guest House Function Hall. The activity gathered representatives from various Adventist academies to propose curriculum improvements and evaluate learning materials through presentations and collaborative discussions.
Representatives from Adventist Medical Center College, Caldwell Adventist Academy, Mountain View College Academy, Mindanao Mission Academy, Northeastern Mindanao Academy, Western Mindanao Adventist Academy, and Lake View Adventist Academy presented their respective proposed revised Senior High School curriculum based on DepEd SSHS department order and shaping paper, and denominational requirements of the Adventist Education system. The presentations reflected their recommendations on areas for improvement based on the needs and capacities of their respective institutions.
Work Education curriculum for both junior and senior high school was redefined and streamlined to emphasize the dignity of manual labor as embedded in the Adventist Education curricula.
The session was marked by active participation as attendees shared insights, feedback, and suggestions on each proposal. Alongside the curriculum planning, a textbook evaluation was conducted to review selected learning materials, ensuring their quality, relevance, and alignment with the proposed curriculum. Most participants were school heads, along with teachers directly involved in curriculum planning and decision-making.
As Pastor Clifford R. Abejo, Mindanao Mission Academy Principal, said, “Today, I am happy with the changes proposed by our dear principals. I am glad that these changes are mission-driven. There is a purpose, and it is centered on the Lord. Our schools will prepare through prayer, collaboration, and by always anchoring everything in Him.”
The activity demonstrated strong collaboration among participating schools in enhancing the quality of education through effective curriculum planning and careful textbook evaluation. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving learning experiences for students through unity and purpose.
