Empowering Future Church Leaders: SWPUC's 'Kids on Mission' Cultivates Skills for Church Service

Elementary-level students from different missions and conferences within SwPUC attended the "Kids on Mission" event at the union headquarters from May 30 to June 1, 2024. With the theme "I Shall Speak of God's Love," the three-day event focused on improving practical skills essential for children's participation in church activities.

The lecturers were Dr. Alevir Pido, Pr. Roxie Pido, Annabel B. Pueblo, and Charm Senining, who shared their expertise in hosting, preaching, and other forms of public speaking, as well as in gaining confidence and good self-esteem. Dr. Pido, the SwPUC Education Director, spoke during her lecture on the art of storytelling that one fails to become an effective public speaker if one forgets the true purpose of delivering the message.

"It's not about the storyteller but Jesus," she uttered.

The event also held workshops and activities like the Speech Festival and Recital, for the young participants to display their talents through storytelling, preaching, and other speech performances.

Zhen Riele Shyn Pamunag, an attendee of the event, enjoyed and learned many things in the event. "I've learned how to face people more confidently and speak and to listen to my teacher or menter so I can do things correctly. I liked the activity called 'The Road of Confidence' because I presented the best version of myself in front of many people," he said.

Initiated by the SwPUC Children's Department, "Kids on Mission" is a training and nurturing activity that aims to inspire children to involve themselves in God's mission. KoM also sets stage for the indefinite schedule of the kids' edition of "My Journey with God."
